But he had committed the murder 9 years ago, and he was so shocked that for the first time in his life, he decided to confess.
He visits the local minister, Keith Schroeder, and his mind changes and changes. He wants to go and stop the action, but then he doesn't. Finally, just a day before the execution, they head for Slone, the place of the execution.

The author, John Grisham, wrote this novel in a very fast-paced way. It makes the story so interesting that you feel like you have to read on, even though it's pretty long(515 pages). You'll sooner or later find yourself clamoring for more.
